Hello, and welcome back to another episode of Your Dream Life Podcast!

Today I want to talk about something close to my heart—something that has been truly life-changing for me and so many others I work with.

It’s about the magic of me time. That sacred, beautiful, and oh-so-important time you carve out just for yourself. And I get it—life is busy. You’re constantly juggling responsibilities, taking care of everyone and everything, and before you know it… you’re the last thing on your own list.

But here’s the thing: When you don’t take time for yourself, everything else starts to feel heavier. Your creativity, your energy, and even your joy can fade. So today, I want to inspire you to prioritise yourself. To give yourself permission to take time out—because you deserve it. I’ll also share some practical tips to help you do just that, as well as something very special I’ve planned that might be exactly what your soul needs.

So, get comfy, grab a cup of tea, or go for a walk, and let’s dive in!

Why ‘Me Time’ is Essential

Now, I know that taking time for yourself can sometimes feel like a luxury—or even selfish. But let me tell you, it is absolutely necessary.

Think of yourself as a candle, shining your light for everyone around you. If you don’t take care of your own flame, eventually, it burns out. And what good is a candle without its light? You need to recharge, refill your cup, and reconnect with yourself so you can continue to shine your brightest.

And do you know what? Science supports this. Studies show that intentional time for yourself can reduce stress, improve focus, boost happiness, and even enhance relationships—because when you show up as your best self, everyone around you benefits.

That’s why I want to encourage you to start treating ‘me time’ as a non-negotiable appointment—because it truly is.

5 Simple Ways to Create More ‘Me Time’

If you’re thinking, Okay, Kristina, I get it! But how do I actually do this?—let me share five simple and beautiful ways to invite more ‘me time’ into your life.

1. Start Your Day With a Ritual
The way you start your morning sets the tone for your entire day. Take just 5–10 minutes in the morning for yourself—whether it’s journaling, stretching, deep breathing, or simply sipping your coffee in silence. Personally, I love my morning ritual: I meditate, go for a walk, and journal. But my favourite part? Five minutes of silence with my coffee. It truly changes everything.

2. Block Out Non-Negotiable ‘Me Time’ in Your Calendar
We schedule work meetings, kids’ activities, and errands—but what about time for you? Block out at least 20 minutes a day just for yourself. Treat it like an important appointment and honour it the way you would a meeting with your boss.

3. Create ‘Digital-Free’ Zones
We live in a world of constant notifications and distractions. Taking intentional time away from screens—even just for an hour before bed—can help you reconnect with yourself and be more present. Try leaving your phone in another room and just be.

4. Indulge in a Mini Retreat at Home
You don’t need to travel far to experience a retreat-like escape. Set up a cozy corner in your home where you can unwind—light a candle, grab a book, meditate, or simply sit in stillness. Create a space that feels sacred to you.

5. Say ‘No’ More Often
One of the most powerful self-care tools? Learning to say no to things that drain you. Every time you say yes to something that doesn’t serve you, you’re saying no to something that fills you up. Protect your time and energy—you deserve it.

The Power of Solitude Retreats

If you really want to take this to the next level, I highly recommend going on a solitude retreat.

These retreats allow you to step away from the noise, disconnect from the world, and truly reconnect with yourself. And they don’t have to be extravagant or expensive—you can create your own retreat at home or simply spend a peaceful day somewhere just for you.

Here’s how you can create your own retreat:

  • Unplug completely—Turn off your phone and emails for a set period.
  • Spend time in nature—A long walk or sitting by the ocean can work wonders.
  • Bring a journal—Write freely, set intentions, and reflect.
  • Meditate or practice deep breathing—Allow yourself to be fully present.
  • Do what brings you joy—Read, create, rest—whatever fills your soul.

And if you’re craving something truly special… I have something incredible for you!

I am hosting my Reconnect to You retreats in Melbourne and Sydney in March and May. These day retreats are designed to be a blissful escape from the pressures of daily life—a chance for you to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters.

It’s a transformative experience where I’ll guide you through mindfulness exercises, journaling, and powerful self-reflection practices. Think of it as a reset button for your soul!

Spots are very limited, and I would love for you to join me. If you feel called to take a day just for you, visit yourdreamlifestartshere.com to book your place.

Final Thoughts

You are worthy of time for yourself. You deserve to rest, dream, and reconnect with what makes your heart sing. So take a deep breath, prioritise yourself, and commit to even just a little bit of ‘me time’ this week.
